Should the human race have dominion over the earth?

Genesis 1:28 says, "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."





Does this passage give us license to do as we please with everything non-human? Why or why not?|||Should the second hand on a watch have dominion over the minute hand? Should the smallest spring or cog on the inside take priority? All parts are needed for the watch to work.





The earth doesn't have any spare parts. All its creatures have their place, as do humans, but if we disrupt the natural order of things very much, we do so at our own peril.





Our attitude should be one of stewardship rather than dominion, and caretaker rather than master.|||You totally miss the point. Human beings were given responsiblity to take care of creation, a job we have not done very good at.|||we do have domination over the earth|||the real dominators are the smallest





The Virus and Bacteria. If they WANT they can kill us all and there is few what we can do about it.








Compared to the diversity of life we control jack shlt|||The verse held a positive image as to what we should do with the earth. Take care of it, groom it, etc..|||No, because books do not give rights to anyone to do anything, Legislation does.|||Humanity SUCKS...just look where we're at NOW...it SUCKS

.|||well, we do don't we?|||1. Satan has dominion over us, seeing as he is our king on Earth. He's wiser than us, so how's he doing? Yet even he has limitations on what he has been allowed to do.

Dominion doesn't mean full control nor that we don't have limitations.|||We do have dominion over the earth... yeah that would explain acidic rain in the northeast of the US.|||It has certainly been used as an excuse to rape the planet of its resources. The trouble today is humans are taking faster than resources can regenerate. It can only end one way. The bible says to 'go forth and multiply, and fill the earth'. It does not say, 'unto plague proportions, to the detriment of all life'.





The trouble with religious people is they do not care for anyone except themselves. It is all about them, and their own souls. They are failing as parents and grandparent because they never stop to ask themselves the moral question to ensure there is sufficient environment for their children and grandchildren.

Most humans hold no regard for the earth or its inhabitants. That said, I start with 'me.' So instead of repelling the human race I instead choose to embrace the world and everything in it. I wake up every morning and give it a great big hug...warts and all, and then do what I can each day to be of assistance to this earth, even the smallest gesture can make a world of difference, pun intended. :) Not to get mushy. :)





Having hateful attitudes won't help to heal the world we live in. Instead of allowing the ignorance of others to over shadow my path I take the initiative and illuminate it instead, on my own. Take ignorance by the hand and lead it instead of turning your back on it and being hateful towards it. No offense to anyone.

The Answer is YES! God Blessed us (Humans) %26amp; gave everything that is on Earth in his hand to take care %26amp; to Protect it. He was given all the rights to have dominion over the Earth %26amp; it's creatures.





But for now we do not have Dominion over the world %26amp; the Creations. We lost the Dominion over the World because of the Disobedience of the First Man (Adam). Because of that the Earth was cursed, along with the Man, Woman (Because of the First Woman, Eve) %26amp; Serpent. Since then we do not have the Dominion over the Creation, it was given to Satan or in other words taken from us by Satan. Roman 3:23 says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God", which includes the Dominion over the Creations.





That is the Reason in Matthew 4:1-11, when JESUS was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil/Satan. In one of these incidents in verse 8 %26amp; 9, the Devil says to Jesus that "All this I will give you", showing all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. How can Devil give these, which was once given to Humans? This proves, that we have lost our dominion over the Creations %26amp; that was immediately taken %26amp; controlled by Satan from then.








In short, We were the Ones, once given Dominion over the Earth, but Because of our Disobedience the Dominion over the Earth was given to the Enemy. Now we do not have Dominion over the Earth %26amp; it would remain the same until "THAT" Day, when Christ returns %26amp; takes away the Dominion over the Earth that was Lost, from Satan's clutches %26amp; gives it to his Bride (Church, that is us).
