Do you need a drivers license to operate heavy machinery like a caterpillar, digger, crane etc (stootskraper) or do you have to have another type of special license to operate these machines.|||Not a government issued license as you would for a car, but it is compulsory for crane operators, TLB operators, Bobcat operators, Tipper truck drivers as well as the various other operators to attend a 5 day training course at an accredited service provider, as chosen by the company, if successful, the operator is granted a Certificate of Competency that is valid for 2 years and must be renewed within 90 days after such expiry, or else they will have to redo the 5 day training course, if they renew within the 90 days, an abridged 2 day course is possible.
All operators, further to that, also have to obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate once yearly where general health such as eyesight, blood pressure and hearing are scrutinised.
If not in compliance, the Department of Safety can shut down the entire site indefinitely which is basically a disaster in construction terms as the company will not be entitled to their normal P%26amp;G (Preliminary and General) claim.|||Yes, you need to do a special course from which if you pass you will be issued a special license to operate a certain category of machinery but this is not the type of license that will be issued by the local traffic department!
If operators are caught operating machinery without licenses the fines can be very very heavy for the company in question.
These licenses are usually quite valuable to have as experienced operators can be paid quite well!|||No you don't have to have a license for heavy equipment like bulldozers, backhoes, trackhoes, etc but you do need a license for cranes...
But your in South Africa??? I don't know there im just giving u what it's like in U.S|||If you played with Tonka toys as a laaitie, no.
