Anyone had any problems downloading google earth?

I've tried downloading google earth and got the shortcut and the shortcut for google chrome too. Then the license agreement came up but the page is not responding saying it can't connect to the internet, when I am actually linked up to the internet. So now I am stuck with this license agreement with a blank screen stuck on my computer each time I sign in. I've uninstalled both items and still no joy. There's no x mark for me to delete it either. Anyone know how to get rid of it please? I'm on a laptop and using vista if that's any help.
