I have known a number of people that are so against the idea of having to register/license their guns. They say it's against their rights, etc.. That the gov't shouldn't know every little thing about them, etc.
At the same time, people have to get a dog license, register their car, etc etc. WHY on earth should people not have to register their Deadly Weapon!?!?
I have known people that go against the law of registering firearms, etc.. Now, shouldn't those same people be against registering their car, etc?
As for the whole idea of why people need to own certain types of guns anyway.. That's a whole other question.. :)|||I think having the license is a good idea. If you haven't been doing anything wrong then there is no problem with the license. The only people who can be threatened by the license are people who are planning to go do illegal stuff with their weapons.|||Looks like someone here never tried to buy a gun before.|||becuase people are sick these days|||no idea i agree with you.|||Did you have to get a license for what you just wrote to make sure your speech was not objectionable? No. It is a right just like speech or all the others it reigns supreme. There is not constitutional right to drive, or have a dog or to fish. Just like you do not have to have a license to have children. It is considered a right.|||Because you have no constitutional right to a car or dog. If this were so, then it would be wrong to license either.
Consider this example: Tomorrow the govt decides that you must be licensed to speak out about anything. Unless you hold a license, it would be illegal to write your congressman, a newspaper, or speak to others. Certainly the PC crowd would support such legislation, since it would control WHO they thought had the "Right" to speak via political affiliation or belief. But would YOU agree with licensing people to have free speech? If so, then you might very well consider moving to a country without a constitution.|||Take away guns and they will attack you with sticks, take away sticks and they throw stones, take away stones and they throw punches. Love thy neighbor as thy self.|||It is common sense to only give gun licenses to people who are sane, 18, and with no previous criminal record. Other than that, there should be no restrictions on guns. I should be able to buy a .50 cal sniper rifle if I fit those qualifications.|||Registration is done already. Getting a license to carry, sure I feel it is in the best interest of all who legally can, to get a license to carry a side arm. The best offense is a good defense.|||In NJ we already have to do this.
However, no permit or license is required to procreate. Some of the worst destructive forces were unleashed by procreation and lack of parenting skills.
But no one will touch that one with a ten foot pole!|||All my guns are legal registered and locked up That's how it is in CT. don't know about the rest of the USA But my dog is illegal SHHHHH don't tell please. when they licence cats I'll license my dog|||There is nothing wrong with registering a firearm. It is of little use if the weapon is used in a crime, and not recovered. If it should be stolen, then found, it could be returned to the owner. As to certain types of firearms, most are for a specific use, and can be justified. All fully automatic weapons are registered, per law, and many people take advantage of using them and enjoying them.|||I know what you mean. It's like it didnt used to bother me that some of my neighbors owned a rifle or a pistol whatever. But now things are too tense and I honestly think gun control in that state needs a serious look.|||I do agree with you there.. anything less then your fore arm should have to be registered with the federal government.. Not Local.. That would be confronting the issues and protecting the consitution to bare arms.. And I even think it should have to be micro chipped to know it's were abouts.. And stiff penalities to anyone found carrying one that isn't..
And, no one who is not a born citizen of the USA, can own one.. Riffles aren't as easy to hide.. But all guns should be registered period..|||nothing wrong with it.. it is because they are afraid they may shoot some one and the cops will be able to tell who it is cause it is license|||When you purchase a Firearm, you are registered , with
the Govt, they also do your background check and approval.
However you are not required to be licensed to sprout, your
line of uninformed Liberal Drivel.|||Sorry, you aren't going to license my rights. Just isn't going to happen.|||You don't have a constitutionally PROTECTED right of own a dog. Who said we support licensing dogs and cars anyway? A casual reading of anything else written by the framers of the constitution make it clear the purpose of the second amendment was to preserve the ability of the PEOPLE to revoke the powers granted to the government. That means they must have the power to remove the government. The only way to enforce that right is FIREPOWER.
