Why on earth did the ticket collector say this?

I was getting on the train this morning and had to show my ticket and student discount card before getting on. The guy wouldn't let me past and held onto my railcard, pointing at the photo and saying "Is this really you? You're black here."


I had no idea how to respond because I didn't understand what he meant. So I asked him to repeat it and he pointed at my photo, sounded really annoyed and said "I don't think this is you. This photo is black". By that stage the train doors were closing. I just said, look, here's another ID (showing him my driving license) and he said "It's ok, I'll let you through"... As though I was trying to hoodwink him or something?


Now, I'm not black and in my photo I was most definitely pale skinned but he was of african origin and I don't know if he was being racist or was crazy or something?|||So he was having a bad day, everyone does, get over it, and try to avoid him in the future.|||You should complain to the company about this rude individual. Find their address, and send them a letter, giving as much detail as you can, such as where, when, what time it was, what was said and how it was said. Don't forget to mention your hurt feelings. Good luck.|||If you feel aggrieved about this i would put in a complaint in about the ticket person, to the company, he should not be doing things like that|||He was probably crazy or maybe you do look black in the pik!

If its really bothering you make a complaint next time your passing through, there should be a customer service desk or try the ticket office|||was he wearing Superjoojanta peril sensitive sunglasses`s?,cause they are soooo dark when they go off, you would appear to be black!|||Hi Jen,i`m sorry that happened to you today.i suppose he thought he was being funny or cute.Either way it was not.When something like this happens in the future ask for his/her name.Stay calm %26amp; say you are going to report this matter. If he says no or tells you to be on your way,then scream %26amp; shout at him. And blame him for missing your train!
