Just why is it, that if I do not work and slave for someone else, and never able to own a home or land, and always in turmoil of how to pay the bills. Don't own a car, forced to license myself and my house and my animals etc...always needing to be what we would term, a mainstream american.|||I don't know about what I believe, but the reality of life on earth right now is that the answer is a solid no. Perhaps is we were nomadic tribes, foraging off the land, then it might be feasible. However the reality of the world right now is that you pay your own way.|||Yes, this is a sad, difficult world. I am 18 and dreading when I have to move out and pay bills and join the mass system.
But it is the best time to be a human... we have welfare for the needy, technological health advancements, financial aid for college, protection from outside invaders, ect.
Life could be worse... we could live as Spartan slaves, Roman slaves, southern planation slaves, sex slaves, etc.
Just be strong and enjoy what you have. I am not rich, but I am rich with family and a passion for life.|||I believe there is no such thing as a free lunch. I also don't believe that humans have any intrinsic rights. The only rights we have are the ones that our ancestors fought hard for, and that we should be prepared to fight to protect if necessary.
You might wish to live an isolated existence, being self-sufficient and presumably also refusing all the benefits of modern society such as health care, electricity, law enforcement, etc. but you happen to live in a country that does not allow its citizens to opt out. There are countries where you can do that but you probably wouldn't want to live in any of them.|||A society needs rule of law to be successful. Otherwise someone will take your stuff and nothing can be done about it.
First Nations Tribes in North America had the right idea- while you can have territory, the Earth is really for everyone- can't "own" water or air.
If you want to live off the grid then you don't have to pay. If you want to use a computer, get on a bus, go to the grocery store or library we all have to pitch in and pay our fair share.|||You could live off the land like Thoreau did, but then, I believe a friend of his owned owned that piece and allowed him to live there. You would need to start with some land, otherwise you'd be squatting on someone else's.|||You can live on Earth without having to pay for it, but if you want a house or apartment, you have to pay of course because someone built it for that reason.|||You dont have to live that way, go live in a different country where traditional lifestyles are more prevalent. Go live with a tribe of people on an island or start your own...
